About MaThrive
A nonprofit built so every student can thrive through mathematics.
MaThrive is a Washington, DC nonprofit dedicated to increasing mathematical mastery and college-and-career readiness for middle and high school students — particularly those furthest from opportunity.
Our Vision
Every student, regardless of background or circumstance, achieves mathematical excellence, develops confidence as a problem-solver, and pursues pathways in STEM, supported by equitable, high-quality, and sustainable math programs in every school.
Our Mission
MaThrive empowers middle and high school students across Washington, D.C.—especially those furthest from opportunity—to master mathematics and discover their power as problem-solvers. Through high-quality tutoring, mentoring, and hands-on STEM connections to engineering, computer science, and robotics, we build the confidence and skills students need to thrive in high school, college, careers, and life—while partnering with DC Public Schools to grow lasting, high-quality math programs.
Our Purpose
Increasing mathematical mastery across the District
Founded by a nationally recognized and multi-awarded educator in mathematics, engineering, computer science, and robotics, MaThrive leverages partnerships with instructional leaders, accomplished educators, colleges and universities, and former students who are now engineers and STEM professionals.
Through high-quality tutoring, small-group instruction, mentoring, and data-driven intervention, we help students strengthen foundational and grade-level mathematics skills while connecting learning to real-world applications in engineering, computer science, robotics, and STEM project-based learning.
In partnership with DC Public Schools and community stakeholders, MaThrive helps schools build strong mathematics programs — providing standards-based tutoring, professional development, instructional coaching, and support for educators, and advancing Enrichment Tutoring while building sustainable educator workforce pathways.
